The Characters

Elaine 20 years old, International student. She is a very focused and disciplined student, but it is harder for her when conversations move too quickly and things aren’t written down. She misses her parents and friends at home but she is trying to make the best of her experience.

Michael 18 years old, just finished high school. He is very social and busy with sports and his job as a night time security guard. He is quick to understand the material at school but tries to get away with doing the least amount of work possible.

Cas 25 years old, gender non-binary. They are repeating the class because they didn’t pass it last time and now all their friends are in other classes. They are struggling with their schoolwork. They already do a lot of work in their field and are wondering if this program is necessary at all.

Tracey 40 years old, white. She has worked in an office for the past 10 years and has decided to go back to school to pursue her passion. She looks after her three kids, aged 8, 12, and 15 and also cares for her mother who has dementia. She is used to working with adults in her professional life and can get frustrated easily.

Soha 21 years old, Black. She is an honour student and passionate about her program. She has earned a scholarship for her good grades and she also works on the weekend to help pay the bills. She is the oldest sister in her family and helps take care of her younger siblings.
