9 Experiential Learning Requirements
Experiential Learning “supports students in gaining hands-on learning that helps them transition to employment”[1]. Experiential Learning can take the form of co-operative education, degree work placement, clinical/field placement, fieldwork/simulation labs, capstone/applied research projects, and service learning.
As a student in this program, you will complete two placements: On Campus Field Placement (FTHP 320) in semester 3 and Industry Field Placement (FTHP 420) in semester 4.
At the end of semester 2, your PC Adam Balan and a department placement officer will provide detailed instructions on your placement requirements. You require the following prior to entering semester 3:
- Obtain a clear police check with vulnerable sector screening. Vulnerable Sector Screenings must be issued within six months of each placement start date. Any previous criminal record must be pardoned.
- Successful completion and annual renewal of a recognized course in CPR (Health Care Provider level)
- Successful completion of recognized course in standard first aid
Please note that while the College does not require COVID-19 vaccination, students are required to follow the policies in place at work-term/placement sites. This means that you may be required to provide proof of vaccination to your employer/placement host in order to participate in and complete your work term/placement.
