Chapter 4: Learning Strategies
37 There’s An App For That
Managing your coursework, time, and well-being can be a big challenge at post-secondary school. There is so much going on and it can sometimes feel tough to stay afloat and find time to organize yourself and your mind. Using apps or electronic calendars can be a big help to keep yourself organized, take a moment to catch your breath, and to be able to access your classwork, calendar and some stress relief from your pocket.

Adaptive or Assistive Technology
Adaptive or assistive technology (AT) programs can help students bypass weaknesses or impairments to facilitate their learning in different ways. This can include text-to-speech software that can read aloud for you, speech-to-text software that lets you dictate written responses, as well as tools to help with spelling, organization, attention, motor skills and more. For individuals with disabilities who are registered with Accessibility Services, there will be staff to help students access AT to address their impairments. Beyond that, many students of all backgrounds and abilities can benefit from software programs that help to use one’s strengths to complete learning and assignments.
