Labs

The first lab class for all courses is dedicated to safety rules and procedures. The students are required to get familiar with the particular safety rules and sign the safety sheets. Non-compliance with safety rules and procedures may cause suspension from the labs.

Safety glasses and shoes are required for all Hydraulics labs and in the machine shop.

Safety glasses are also required for the Pneumatics labs and also Troubleshooting & Maintenance labs.

There may be limited access to Centennial’s computers and specialty labs. For your health and safety, follow any posted protocols (e.g., physical distancing, cleaning, etc.).

Software

Students have access to industry-leading software packages and bundles that can be found in rooms, labs, and podiums across our campuses. Computers at each campus will be loaded with the applications for use in your courses. To access these features, you must log in to the network using your student number. You can see a comprehensive list of software and software packages installed by room and by campus here.

Students use various software related to their course of studies in all semesters. Some of them are listed below:

1) Ground loop design (GLD)
2) HOMER
3) Ret Screen
4) Win Boiler Sim
5) Metasys Building Automation System
6) AutoCAD, Inventor, and Solidworks
7) Arduino Software (IDE)
8) Thermoflow Inc.
9) HVAC Calc etc.

Digital Resources

Students and faculty of energy programs started using various digital learning resources than before due to COVID-19 restrictions. Some of the digital resources used by them are:

1) On-line graphics images or photos.
2) On-line Audio – video clips and software
3) Simulation, Animation, Quizlet, e-textbook, Kahoot, Padlet, etc.
4) Zoom, Microsoft Team, Go to Meeting, Virtual classroom etc. for on-line classes
5) Lockdown browser, On-line camera etc.
6) E-Library etc.

Library Collections

You can review the online library guide and databases specific to the Architecture program below:

Instructors may make course readings available online through the eReserves service in eCentennial or as physical items that can be borrowed from a campus library on short-term loan. If your instructor is using eReserves, you will see a module in the course content on eCentennial. The list may include links to library resources like databases, articles, and eBooks; book chapters; web links; and open educational resources. Check your course outline or contact your instructor for information about where your assigned course readings are located.
