Nursing Philosophy
As a nursing student I see the nursing philosophy as a set of guidelines that helps nurses live by standards they have set for themselves. For example, for me a guideline that I have set for myself is to treat every patient as their own individual person. As a nurse I strive to get to know each patient.
Nursing to me means selflessness. In the career of nursing the patient is the nurse’s priority. I will use my intelligence and experience to provide the patient with compassionate care. A good nurse must show empathy and compassion to their patients throughout their work and care towards their patient.
A nurse must also be able to remain calm and focused in highly stressful environments. This is so a nurse can focus to ensure patient safety. The self control a nurse has in a stressful situation allows for quick, clear decision-making, accurate assessments, and prioritization. These skills are essential in high-pressure situations. Remaining calm also reassures patients and families, fostering trust and security in challenging times.
