The artifacts included in this portfolio represent my journey as a nursing student. Through these pieces, I aim to demonstrate my readiness to contribute to the nursing profession and my dedication to lifelong learning in healthcare.
#Artifact 1
One of the key inspirations for my nursing journey has been my grandfather, a dedicated doctor who has spent his life helping people in need. Growing up, I often visited his clinic and witnessed his unwavering commitment to patient care, selflessly prioritizing others’ well-being over his own. Even at 75, he remains passionate about making a difference, often skipping meals and working tirelessly to support his patients, including those unable to afford care. His empathy, humility, and generosity have always inspired me, and I deeply admire his ability to spread love and warmth to those who need it most.
To me, nursing is a way to carry forward his legacy of compassion and service. Through this artifact, I honor his influence on my career and affirm my commitment to providing equitable care and supporting patients during their most vulnerable moments, just as he has always done.

I have always been deeply attached to my family, spending most of my time with them rather than friends. This bond made a moment from my teenage years especially impactful. When I was 14, my father came home with a bleeding knee, cuts on his face and hands, and was on the verge of fainting. I felt a wave of anxiety and helplessness, unsure of how to assist him. Fortunately, our neighbors, one of whom was a doctor, stepped in and cared for him. That moment left a deep impression on me. The fear and helplessness I felt planted a desire to equip myself with the skills to help others during critical moments. It was then that I realized the importance of healthcare and the significant impact it has on people’s lives. This experience became the spark for my dream to pursue a career that combines compassion with meaningful service.
# Artifact 3
The first time I truly felt a shift in my academic journey was when I completed my CPR certification. It was a surreal moment, a clear acknowledgment of the new path I was on. I had never experienced such a powerful sense of purpose before, realizing I was finally doing something meaningful with my life. While studying topics like microbes and organic chemistry didn’t spark my passion, transitioning to nursing felt daunting at first. I was nervous about the stress and responsibilities—drawing blood, caring for patients, and so on. However, the CPR course awakened feelings of compassion and a genuine desire to help others. It made me realize that my true calling was to serve people, to do everything I could to support and save lives.

I’ve always known that I wanted a career that would present regular challenges. Routine, simple tasks didn’t appeal to me—I thrive in critical situations that force me to think on my feet and find solutions. This photo, taken during one of my Biotechnology labs at Seneca College, shows the process of gel electrophoresis. When COVID hit and vaccines were scarce, I thought a career in vaccine development could be my way of making a difference. However, after two years of studying biotechnology, I realized that I prefer more hands-on work with immediate results. This led me to transition to nursing after spending one year in biomedical science, where I could directly impact people’s lives.
