About This Book

Discovering German is an educational resource for beginners learning German at the college level. It has an interactive, task-focused and communicative approach that encourages students to develop and practice their language skills in a hands-on way and provides a wide range of opportunities to actively listen and communicate in German in a variety of contexts. These contexts provide insight into the diversity of German as a language and of speakers of German; they aim at an inclusive approach to the depiction of people, contexts, concepts, and cultures.

Discovering German follows a blended learning model which combines in-class instruction and interaction and online individual learning. In-class activities focus on developing interactive language skills in a collaborative environment. Online activities allow students to work at their own pace and focus on (a) the review and reinforcement of material covered in class and (b) the discovery of and engagement with new information or material.
