Conclusion 1. No evidence of improvement for student achievement
Through the many analyses done and the discussions, both formal and informal, about student achievement with various stakeholders at the institution, we must conclude that we have no evidence that the eText/IPM initiative, as implemented, provides a general improvement to student achievement. It does raise questions about some of the assumptions that were used to originally motivate this initiative, namely: for students who weren’t acquiring resources at the beginning of the session, why weren’t they? The assumption was that it was a financial barrier, but equally it would seem possible that students were evaluating whether or not a resource would be used.
