Introduction to Blended Learning
What is Blended Learning?
Blended learning is a pedagogy that combines traditional in-person classes with online learning activities to facilitate learning for students. Research shows that the best case for achieving positive student perceptions and learning outcomes tends to be when 1/3 to 1/2 of the course consists of online components, with the remaining learning activities carried out in person(1). Blended learning courses tend to be rated more highly than purely online courses by students and instructors because they provide more opportunity for face-to-face interaction, accountability, social connection, and structure(2).
