Module 2 Overview
Module 2: Equipment and Digital Imaging Basics
Module 2 will consist of Chapters 7-8.
This module will familiarize the dental radiographer (student) with the equipment, receptor holders, and beam alignment devices used in both digital and film-based imaging. Advances in technology have produced a significant effect on the profession of dentistry and dental imaging. These advances have resulted in a unique filmless system known as Digital Imaging. Before the dental radiographer can use this specialized technology, the dental radiographer must have a working knowledge of the basic concept of equipment, concepts, terminology, purpose, and fundamentals.

The purpose Chapter 7:
- To introduce the dental radiographer to a variety of intraoral and extraoral dental x-ray machines
- To detail the component parts of these machines
- To describe the more common x-ray film holders and beam alignment devices
Chapter 8: Digital Imaging
The purpose of Chapter 8:
- To present the basic concepts of digital imaging
