The CYC 1205 program has been created for the most part to be taught in-person at the Progress Campus. There are some CYC courses that have a blended model with classes in-person, as well as online and other courses that are only taught asynchronously. Utilizing the different modes of course delivery, is to help students with learning in varies ways. The college has learning strategists who can assist students with how best they learn, and to create strategies to ensure they are being successful in their courses. The CYC program office is at the Progress Campus in E2-11. It is always best to email and book a time to meet with a professor, student advisor, the field placement coordinator or the Program Coordinator first to ensure they are on campus, and have time to meet with a student.
When students are choosing their COMMs and GNEDs ensure that you have reviewed the modes of course delivery and if in person remember to check the campus this course is taught at. Making a mistake in this step, could mean the student needs to travel to another campus for their COMM and GNED courses.
Students are encouraged to bring their laptops for in-class course work, or they can borrow a laptop from the Library to use in class. There are many desk top computers that students can use thorough the college as well. Either way, it is always helpful for students to bring paper and a pen, a day planner to ensure they have taken down any important information and/or due dates.
Centennial Luminate
All courses at Centennial have an online learning environment on Centennial Luminate, the College’s learning management system. Through Luminate you can access course documentation and class assignments, monitor grades, and actively communicate and collaborate with professors and other students. Online courses and online components of hybrid courses will be delivered through Luminate. You may need to write online tests and submit assignments via Luminate. Your professor will discuss their use of Luminate in each of your courses. View this guide to learn how to navigate Luminate and view the other student resources and supports.
