Program Coordinator

Program Coordinators are professors, who in addition to their teaching responsibilities, provide academic leadership in the coordination of courses and/or programs to ensure curriculum quality, relevance and currency; Program Coordinators also contribute to a positive learning experience for students, facilitate effective communications amongst colleagues and work to achieve Program goals.

The Program Coordinator plays an important role in the successful delivery of students’ academic programs at Centennial College. The coordinator is part of the faculty, a key student contact, industry expert and importantly, a steward of academic quality.

An important role the program’s coordinator may assist students with, is in the area of academic advising:

  1. Consult with and advise students on industry/sector expectations and academic issues;
  2. Assist advisor in identifying and supporting students at risk;
  3. Provide advisement on academic and behavioural student issues;
  4. Coordinate implementation of student success/retention strategies;
  5. Guide and refer students with complaints to the appropriate College representative as per policies/procedures;
  6. Coordinate and lead promotion meetings (i.e. course, semester, year);
  7. Evaluate qualifications of student applications, as requested;
  8. Refer students to various resources available on campus, including Student Success advisory, Financial Aid services, Student Services, Tutoring Services, and Career Development Services.
