How to Use this Resource

The Conservation Science Education Online (CSEO) Resource is a platform that aims to offer educators support in teaching key scientific concepts. These can be challenging for students to comprehend and for educators to communicate. The resource consists of modules that educators have found to be effective when teaching concepts or theories through lessons, case studies or labs.

The modules, which are accessible under the Contents drop-down menu on the left-hand side, are divided into sub-categories such as: Scientific Analysis, Environment and Preventive Conservation, Research, and Indigenous Knowledge. These sub-categories will grow with module submissions. Specific teaching topics are included in these sub-categories. The module topics can include a range of lessons, case studies, laboratory exercises, videos, infographics or other didactic materials. These can be incorporated into teaching as they are outlined or can inspire users on how to modify established lesson plans. The individual user can decide whether to incorporate the whole module, or just portions of it, into lessons. As new modules are submitted, the resource will be updated – we envision this happening twice a year. Existing modules can also be revised.

The resource is built through generous submissions from educators who have developed and implemented these modules themselves. Therefore, when using this resource and incorporating modules into lesson plans, please cite appropriately. Each module has its own Creative Commons license.  Please refer to the How to Cite Modules in this Resource for further instructions.
