The purpose of this open course resource is to provide you with ideas and content related to the practice of critical thinking in a post-secondary context. In each unit of this workbook you will be invited to use the Hypothes.is tool, an annotation tool that can be used to add comments and additional examples to existing content. Hypothes.is is used to provide feedback on ideas, and to enrich conversations surrounding a topic (or group of topics). This type of interactive and collaborative approach to critical thinking may represent a more authentic and immersive approach than traditional online reading and discussion pathways.
The are four main learning outcomes intended for this course as follows:
- Explain the value of critical thinking in society
- Apply critical thinking to a variety of simple and complex situations
- Analyze the role of ethics and morality in critical decision-making
- Evaluate arguments in support of a variety of issues or ideas
