Fanshawe Project Showcase

In recent years, our college researchers have helped local businesses improve their processes, develop products, and be more sustainable. Here are just a few case studies to illustrate how CRI unlocks innovation and drives the regional economy through leading expertise, resources, partners, and funding.

LiveFit Foods

A man holding a plastic drinking bottle.

LiveFit’s goal was to reduce the amount of waste generated by plastic food containers. Fanshawe’s team developed a process to break down polyester-based plastic packaging into liquid or powder forms.

Ontario Beekeepers Association

A beekeeper extracting a sheet of honeycombs from a beehive.
The Ontario Beekeepers Association was in need of a database to identify adulterated Canadian honey as part of the Canadian Honey Council initiative. They sought out the help of Fanshawe researchers, who were able to collect and deliver the honey sampling kits and develop an improved extraction method.

Lignition

A hand full of seeds covered in a brightly colored coating.

Lignition was interested in using one of their novel seed coatings to increase carbon capture of their crops. Fanshawe helped optimize the coating through various trials to improve the distribution and consistency of Lignition’s product.

You are encouraged to visit the CRI page of the Fanshawe College partnership website to read about these and many other success stories.
