WINTER WEEK 2: GROUP DISCUSSION INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions

This week you will be reading and discussing another group’s idea proposal. The key is to provide constructive feedback that helps them to consider alternative viewpoints and improve upon their original submission. It is important here to recall the difference between critiquing and denigrating – we want the former and will not tolerate the latter.

Begin by reading the proposal you received together as a group (aloud or giving time to read it independently, depending on your preferences). Once everyone has had the chance to review it, use the questions below to guide your discussion. At this stage, you are encouraged to simply discuss and have at least one person take notes. These questions will be the basis of the feedback report, so taking notes will be very useful! Be sure to include all team members in the discussion. If you feel you have thoroughly discussed the proposal and have time leftover, you may begin working on the feedback template provided for next week.

NOTE: As this is the beginning of a new term, you may need to revisit your calendars and provide an update to the group contract. This does not need to be submitted but should be noted amongst your group members if your availability outside class has changed.
