Self Concept
Self-Concept refers to the mental image one has of their self. This mental image can be conscious or unconscious and reflects one’s personal feelings, opinions, and experiences regarding their identity. Having a positive self-concept provides the person with a sense of value, wholeness, and clarity which can help adapt to life stressors. People with a positive self-concept can better manage illness and stressful situations (Potter and Perry, 2019)
