Module 2: Assessment and Reflection: Process and Growth

Community-engaged and experiential learning benefit from assessments that emphasize the learning process and focus on the growth of students’ skills, thinking, and practices. This module will describe these important assessments with a focus on reflection.

Module 2 Learning Objectives

At the end of Module 2, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify the role of reflection and assessment in experiential learning frameworks
  2. Understand how to use a reflection and assessment model in community-engaged and/or experiential learning
  3. Apply reflection practices to future experiential learning situations

Module 2 Exercise 1: Pre-Module Reflection

Think of a volunteer and/or community experience you have had in the past and consider the following questions. When you are finished, click on the icon in the top left corner of this activity (i.e., the icon with three horizontal lines) and select “Download My Answers” to submit and download a copy of your responses.
