Introduction

  • Asking open-ended and closed-ended questions
  • Observing and memorizing

  • Maximizing vocal effectiveness
  • Practising situational awareness
  • De-escalating tense situations
  • Taking Witness Statements
  • Testifying at trial
  • Writing reports
  • Writing professional correspondence

It should be noted that the usefulness of these skills is not limited to law enforcement careers. This skill set is valuable in any role where self-regulation, record-keeping, and professional credibility are crucial to doing the job well.
