Scratch Coding Cards
Introduction:
Scratch Coding Cards are a set of physical or digital cards designed to help beginners, especially children, learn the basics of the Scratch program, i.e., how to code. Each card has a small coding activity, guiding users step-by-step through fundamental coding concepts such as loops, conditionals, motion, and events. The cards often include colorful visuals and simple instructions, making them accessible for learners of all ages.
Since the cards focus on small tasks, they may not encourage deeper problem-solving or independent project development. Since this is the case, these cards are helpful for students to get a basic understanding of concepts and then can be tasked to expand their learning and code something similar but with some added features.
Working Process:
Teachers can set up different stations around the room, each with a different set of Scratch Coding Cards. Students rotate between stations, learning different skills at each one. This can keep students engaged with varied activities while simultaneously learning new coding concepts.
The learning stations can then be turned into challenge stations by encouraging students to modify or extend the project of each card.
