How Does Your Species Evolve?
Students pick their favorite animal and pick a unique characteristic of this animal (e.g., a giraffe’s long neck).
Introduction:
Ask students how they think the giraffe’s neck got so long.
After discussion, play the code and explain how pressure plays a role in evolution.
Working Process:
Students pick their own animal and alter the code to create the evolution of that animal (e.g., the role of an elephant’s tusks and predators, cheetahs’ speed and prey).
Consolidation:
Students share their creation with a group of other students and debate on how they think their evolution occurred (what was the pressure, how the animal progressively altered).
