Describing roles and relationships between producers, consumers, and decomposers within an ecosystem
Description
Explore food chains in different ecosystems. Learn about the interactions of producers, consumers, and decomposers through a guided simulation (code) and then create your own food chain (code) of producers, consumers, and decomposers in the ecosystem of your choice.
Introduction
- Introduction to food chains by exploring producers, consumers, and decomposers in different ecosystems
Working on it
- Have students work in pairs to look up a different ecosystem from the ones demonstrated, find a producer, consumer and decomposer in that ecosystem and make their own code demonstrating the food chain relationship and the interactions of the different species.
Consolidation
- Have students share with the class what ecosystem they made, and how the scratch program works.
