Professional Code of Conduct

Centennial College is committed to creating a safe, healthy, respectful, and inclusive learning, working, and living environment. All College community members have the right to work, study, and live in an environment that is free from all forms of harassment, discrimination, and violence as defined by the Harassment, Discrimination and Violence Prevention Policy and the law. All College community members have a right to equitable treatment and opportunity in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and a safe environment that restricts and addresses violence under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

All members of the Centennial College community have a right to work, study and live in an environment that is free from any form of sexual violence. The Sexual Violence Policy sets out the way in which the College addresses sexual violence.

The College’s Sexual Violence Procedures outline the steps and process to take if you are the survivor or witness of sexual violence. You can also access these steps in an easy to read format online on our Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Resources website.

The College has developed resources and learning opportunities to increase awareness and prevention of sexual violence. Our efforts include engaging students in dialogue about sexual violence prevention during Orientation and Service Fairs, creating print and online resources and campaigns, involving students in awareness-raising activities, and training.

For more information about sexual violence prevention, please check out the College’s website on Sexual Violence Prevention.

Each Centennial student is governed by the rules and regulations of the College, including the Student Code of Conduct (“the Code”). Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the educational objectives of the College in accordance with generally accepted standards of behaviour and in accordance with published College policies and respect for other members of the Centennial community. The Code provides the basis for behaviour which nurtures this environment of mutual respect.

Violations of the Code will be handled according to the Student Code of Conduct – Complaints Procedures.

With the move to learning at a distance and with interactions now taking place online and in virtual spaces, keep in mind that the Student Code of Conduct still applies. Be sure to check the Learning at a Distance: What You Need to Know About Your Rights and Responsibilities Online for tips on demonstrating kindness and respect in an online environment.
