Most, if not all, CJSP core courses are a combination of in-class (face to face) and on-line delivery.  “Hybrid Learning means that some of the teaching and learning is taking place online, instead of within a physical classroom. Transformative learning can take place both within a physical classroom and online, as the world is our classroom. Online teaching and learning support our diverse learners at Centennial College, through offering more flexibility, and opportunity for collaboration, networking, and creating new knowledge.

Centennial Luminate

All courses at Centennial have an online learning environment on Centennial Luminate, the College’s learning management system. Through Luminate you can access course documentation and class assignments, monitor grades, and actively communicate and collaborate with professors and other students. Online courses and online components of hybrid courses will be delivered through Luminate. You may need to write online tests and submit assignments via Luminate. Your professor will discuss their use of Luminate in each of your courses. View this guide to learn how to navigate Luminate and view the other student resources and supports.

You can access short term loans of laptops (4 hours) and iPads (1 week) through the Library’s Technology Loan Program.

If you are having trouble accessing the technology you need to participate in your course, please contact your professor.

Our Online Learning Toolkit contains many tips and resources to support your online learning experience.

Learning Strategists in the Libraries’ Learning Centres are also here to provide you with skills and strategies for online learning. View tips online or book an appointment.

For synchronous (live sessions you and your classmates join at the same time) online class meetings, your professor will provide you with a link to the session. The videoconferencing platform supported by the College is Microsoft Teams. Your professors may use different platforms depending on the course/lesson objectives. Knowledge of these various platforms will serve you well in the workforce.

Materials posted to courses in Luminate are subject to Intellectual Property and Copyright protection, and as such cannot be used and posted for public dissemination without prior permission from the original creator or copyright holder (e.g., student/professor/the College/or third party source). This includes class/lecture recordings, course materials, and third party copyright-protected materials (such as images, book chapters and articles). Copyright protections are automatic once an original work is created, and applies whether or not a copyright statement appears on the material. Students are bound by College policies, including AC100-22 Intellectual Property, and SL100-02 Student Code of Conduct, and any student found to be using or posting course materials or recordings for public dissemination without permission and/or inappropriately is in breach of these policies and may be sanctioned.
