Available Space and Capabilities of the CHSR
Simulation Centre Spaces
The CHSR is designed to meet the needs of your simulation experience, whether it be through acute-care patient rooms, apartment-styled spaces, flexible spaces that cater to both Virtual Reality and In-Person experiential delivery, and optimized debriefing spaces. The 7,800 sq. ft. CHSR has been equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual recording capacity to allow for various options of post-activity review. The CHSR also contains the following available room for use:
High-Fidelity Simulation Suites
The CHSR houses four HFS Suites which have two Simulator (i.e. patient) setups each. The Suites are designed to replicate the acute-care environment of a hospital room with relevant equipment utilized by various healthcare disciplines. Whether your learner group is small enough to be served by a single Suite, or you have a large group that necessitates running all four Suites simultaneously; our Simulation Specialist team will help keep your simulation-based experience consistent.
SimFlex Rooms
As we strive to keep pace with advancing technologies, the CHSR recognizes the benefits of incorporating VR experiences for our users. Of course, we also understand the benefits of the ‘tried-and-tested’ experiential learning methodologies which involve mannequins and simulated participants. Thus, to meet the best of both worlds, we offer a flexible space that is capable of meeting whichever modality is preferred; the CHSR houses two ‘SimFlex’ rooms that can be utilized for many different purposes to suit whatever needs arise. These rooms are tailored to each program and activity as needed, so that we can accommodate all users!
Dedicated Debriefing Space
The self-monitoring or insightfulness that occurs within or after an SBE, allows learners the opportunity to identify knowledge gaps and understand contradictions between one’s vision or actions and actual practice. Debriefing should be conducted in an environment with adequate facilities to allow for privacy, open discussion, trust, review, and confidentiality. The CHSR has dedicated, comfortable spaces to facilitate high-quality debrief learning sessions for students.
Apartments for Daily Living (ADL) Suites
Recognizing that healthcare-specific experiential learning transcends the bedside of a hospital/clinic environment, the CHSR has two apartment-styled spaces that afford learners the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills within a home-care setting. Learners can help simulated participants navigate their ADLs in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom- to allow for a broader range of preparation within community/residential healthcare.

Simulator Capabilities
At the CHSR, we offer a diverse range of Simulators designed to enhance learners’ SBE. Our collection includes:
- Adult Care High-Fidelity Simulators: Offer a comprehensive range of adult scenarios, from routine care to complex acute care scenarios, ensuring a broad scope of practice for learners of all disciplines.
- Birthing Simulators: Provides realistic scenarios for labor and delivery training, as well as ante- and post-partum care, helping learners practice and refine their skills in managing childbirth.
- Infant and Paediatric Simulators: Allow for hands-on practice with young patients, including emergency care and routine assessments tailored to different age groups.
- CPR and Code Blue Simulators: Simulate critical care situations, enabling users to practice advanced cardiac life support and emergency response techniques.
- Wearable Simulators: suits designed for physical limitations or to simulate the aging process designed to be worn by the participant, to demonstrate empathy.
Each Simulator utilizes state-of-the-art technology to provide an immersive and educational experience, supporting a wide array of clinical training needs. Simulators can be used in a multitude of differing functions; please feel free to reach out to the simulation team to discuss how we can incorporate our Simulators, tailoring and customizing their uses to fit your program and learners!
