CHSR Operations and Bookings
CHSR Code of Conduct
Please see the following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on CHSR Code of Conduct: (link currently under construction)
Booking Space, Time and Equipment in the CHSR
To book any space, equipment, previously established simulations, or personnel-usage within the CHSR, please complete the following booking form: CHSR Booking Request Form (opens in new tab). To look at booking, creating, or developing a new simulation, please see the section below on new simulation requests.
The simulation team will reach out to your team to collaboratively help facilitate simulation and any booked activities at the beginning of each semester. This is helpful in ensuring all applicable changes or modifications are made, that simulations are updated, and scheduling and logistics are considered.
Co-creating a New Simulation with the CHSR Team
Please submit the following form to request co-development of a new simulation: Click the link here to the CHSR New Simulation Design Request Form (opens in new tab)
The Simulation Team will reach out to you to begin the process of developing and incorporating new simulation, as outlined in the below steps:
- Complete a gap analysis of current curriculum or identify a need within your clinical area that might benefit from training in a simulated setting and consider learning outcomes/objectives.
- Email simulation@mohawkcollege.ca if you would like to book a simulation consult with the CHSR team to discuss the best simulation modalities and fidelity to support your learning objectives.
- Fill out the new simulation development request booking form, noted above.
- The CHSR team will triage requests and reach out to you with confirmation, as well as to begin the collaborative design phase.
- The CHSR staff and content expert will meet to collaboratively design the simulation, ensuring INACSL best practices are followed.
- A pilot run will be booked by the CHSR to trial the scenario and identify any areas of improvement prior to the simulation day.
- The simulation scenario will be finalized by both faculty and CHSR staff, executed and evaluated for continuous quality improvement.
Digital Learning and Virtual Simulation
For more information on digital learning at Mohawk College, and incorporating virtual reality or virtual simulation in your program, please feel free to reach out to the Rapid Response Team (RRT): rrt@mohawkcollege.ca.
Please also see the RRT Guide for further information: Click here to view the RRT Guide (Pressbook, opens in new tab)
Working with Mannequins
The CHSR houses high-fidelity Simulators, in addition to medium-fidelity mannequins, including Elevate Juno. Operation of Juno mannequins inside the CHSR is designated to trained, approved individuals. All training will be provided by CHSR staff prior to using any mannequins or Simulators.
CAE Audio/Video Recording
Video and audio recordings will occur during simulated scenarios and may be used for debriefing and/or learning opportunities. These video recordings are unique to each student, and if arranged in advance with the CHSR team, students will have access to view their simulation recording, in order to self-reflect on their experience. Video access will be limited to a maximum of fourteen (14) days following the conclusion of the simulated experience, though duration and timeline can be discussed with the CHSR team in advance of the simulation. All videos will be deleted from the CAE Learning Space software two (2) years following completion of the simulation.
Please work together with the Simulation Team in ensuring that each participant has signed the CAE LearningSpace recording consent form, found on caelearningspace.mohawkcollege.ca.
If students are unable to sign the consent form prior to participating in activities involving recording, CHSR staff will have students sign the form prior to entering the recording space. Please see a copy of consent form for reference: Click here to access a copy of the CAE LearningSpace Consent Form (PDF, opens in new tab)
