Part II – Era of Formation
Following this ancient genesis came the Era of Formation, spanning the vast period before recorded conflicts. It was during this time that early human civilizations gradually awakened to the immense potential held within Chi. This awakening spurred the development of diverse philosophies, intricate techniques, and unique cultural traditions revolving around its use. Societies diverged in their approach: some revered Chi as a sacred, spiritual bond requiring nurturing, while others viewed it as a raw resource to be systematically mastered and controlled. These differing perspectives, combined with innate variations in how individuals connected to Chi—ranging from inherited distortions and maintained purity to the spontaneous development of elemental affinities, mental capabilities, or rare, potent “Chi Marks”—led to distinct regional identities. Passed down through bloodlines, molded by culture, and influenced by the environment, these differences solidified the formation of powerful ninja factions across the continent, gradually fostering mistrust and sowing the seeds of future conflict over land, relics, and influence.
