Social promotes social mobilityAlthough sports can offer chances for advancement, this is not true for everyone in every sport. One of the reasons is that availability of advanced training for several sports, coaching, and facilities frequently relies on financial demands which some people struggle with because of the challenges, expenses and so on. Lack of financial resources make it difficult for people to play professionally which limits their chances of growth. Also, some athletes don’t get proper training so they struggle throughout. |

So what? Why does any of this matter? Does it matter? As something we grow up with – live with – play through – we don’t often interrogate the meanings of sport, and perhaps we don’t want to.
But being aware of these assumptions and metanarratives is especially important, I would argue, because of the centrality of sport to our everyday lives, the role that sport plays in shaping our childhood and worldviews and….. [finish that thought]
Sports isn’t just a game that we play. It reflects on our life, how we structure it and how we maintain it by playing sports. Also, it stands out when we think about sports as a challenge since competing with others in different sports boosts up our metabolism and makes us do even better. Also, it carries some metanarratives which takes us through the understanding of a variety of sports based on gender, race, and also different nationalities that come together to compete regardless of what the competitors backgrounds are and whether they come from different nations, sports doesn’t hold a restriction on who is playing. |

What are the implications of bodies-at-risk discourse and the refusal to understand the health gap from a social justice perspective, according to the authors of this article?
Instead of addressing the structural and social hurdles that lead to health disparities, the bodies-at-risk narrative places the burden of health responsibility on individuals, especially those from marginalized populations. This viewpoint supports healthism, which holds that one’s health is a personal moral duty rather than a social duty.
In the article from Harrison, Azzarito, and Hodge they stated that the problems are made worse by the commodification of health. Ignoring the larger socioeconomic determinants of health, health is viewed as a commodity to be purchased and maintained, serving for only business interests which actually don’t fulfill the responsibilities.

What is feminism? What does it mean to you? Choose one of the images below and explain how it captures your understanding of feminism (or find one that does speak to you and paste this into your pressbook with an explanation of why it matters to you.
Feminism to me is about equality on different grounds.The idea that gender equality should be promoted in the political, social, and economic grounds is known as feminism. It targets structural injustices and works to remove obstacles that restrict women’s opportunities. As for me, I believe in equality. I think that women should be prioritized and given equal rights and opportunities as all other people get. I am choosing the image ‘We can do it’ since it makes me think about women empowerment that all women can do whatever other genders are able to do. Women can also take over male-dominanted roles. Women can be independent and rule the world. They have the strength that carries a lot of capability to do things.

The realm of women’s sports is undoubtedly changing. it’s been changed throughout the years. The world has been supportive and bringing female athletes on front foot to value women. But there have been challenges as well as there’s less visibility as we know that not more people go to watch women’s sports. When we compare it with the men’s sports there’s a difference as women don’t get the same amount of playing sports. I believe each sport and gender has an audience, some have more while others have less. So, in terms of that I would say that it has been growing but still many people do not watch women sports if we compare.
