Learning Objectives

By the end of this chapter you should be able to:

  • Explain how key legal, governmental and administrative systems in Ontario function and identify the impact on the daily lives of clients.
  • Apply a systemic approach to approach to solve problems
  • Work with the unique needs of clients who are involved with the criminal justice system, including mandated clients and those re-entering the community, by applying problem-solving and advocacy skills.
  • Work with the needs of clients who require an understanding of their basic legal rights as residential tenants and how various laws intersect.
  • Understand OW/ODSP, Children’s Aid Society,  including apprehended children and mandated drug screening, by applying problem solving and advocacy skills.
