Co-curricular/Extra-Curricular Learning
Non-academic/outside-of-the-classroom activities that students engage in throughout the academic year which are not a formal part of the curriculum are typically not considered EL. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Bootcamps/hackathons: organized activities related to entrepreneurship and innovation (other examples: incubator, pitch competition).
- Mentorship/career exploration: intensive work was undertaken to explore career interests and develop professional skills (other examples: workshop series).
- Research/teaching assistantships: paid work experiences offered by the institution through which graduate students carry out supervised research/teaching-related duties.
- On-campus work experience: paid work experience offered by a Faculty or administrative unit.
- Work-study: paid part-time work experiences offered by the institution for eligible students who demonstrate financial need.
- Volunteerism: Students participate in institution-sanctioned, unpaid activities or projects with community organizations.
- Student government/student clubs and associations: representative bodies of elected students or student-led groups based on a shared interest or goal.
