Program Requirements

Students are required to fulfill all obligations of the Program as specified in the Program Model Route, prior to graduation. The minimum passing grade in all DSWR core courses is “C” or 60% – with the exception of DSWP 107 where the minimum passing grade is “B” Students must complete 2 Field Placements – these placements must be at 2 different agency locations (i.e. Residential and Community or Residential and School).   

Please take care to make note of pre-requisites and co-requisites. It is your responsibility to make sure you are on the Model Route. 

A pre-requisite is a course that you must take before taking other courses. If there are any, all pre-requisite courses are clearly stated on your Program Model Route and on the course outline.

A co-requisite is a course that is dependent on another course and must be taken in the same semester. If you fail one of the identified courses, you may be required to repeat the other course(s) as well. All co-requisite courses are stated on your Program Model Route and on the course outline.

The minimum passing grade for COMM and GNED courses is D or 50%.

Students must maintain a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5.

Students must ensure that all pre-requisite and co-requisite courses are met.

Course Requirements – Course Outlines

Course outlines specify relevant course learning outcomes to be achieved and assessments that measure achievement of that learning. Course outlines also offer a general description of the course, its content, requirements, and required learning resources (e.g., textbooks, equipment/materials). Course outlines clearly communicate expectations to learners concerning requirements for admission to the course (e.g.., pre- and co-requisites), successful completion of the course, and other course-specific policies and procedures. Ensure you review the course outlines for each of your courses to be aware of requirements and expectations. Please make sure to read your Course Outlines and seek support if you have any questions or concerns.
