Cultivating a Growth Mindset
A growth mindset is based on the idea that your essential qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts and assumes that everyone can grow through experience and practice[1]. A growth mindset is essential for career success.
Helpful Tip
To cultivate a growth mindset in your teen, help them to:
- Evoke Awareness and help your child understand their values, beliefs, and attitudes about career development and how their mindset is shaped by societal, cultural and familial influences.
- Challenges their current mindset and introduce them to new ideas. Consider connecting them with others to learn about different career pathways.
- Help them stretch outside their comfort zone and help them grow in ways that are new to them.
