Thigh (Proximal and Mid)
Proximal/Upper Thigh
- Be VERY CAREFUL with this measurement as it is in a delicate area
- Have client take a step forward on the leg you are measuring
- This measurement is approximately ¾ of the way up the leg, taking in the lower portion of the glutes
- Typically, it is 1cm below the gluteal line
Mid-Thigh
- Have client take a step forward on the leg you are measuring
- Measure from the top of the trochanterion (top of the femur) to the tibiale laterale (top of the tibia) to find the mid-point
- Place a small mark on the mid-point and measure the circumference around the thigh
