Thigh (Proximal and Mid)

Proximal/Upper Thigh

  • Be VERY CAREFUL with this measurement as it is in a delicate area
  • Have client take a step forward on the leg you are measuring
  • This measurement is approximately ¾ of the way up the leg, taking in the lower portion of the glutes
    • Typically, it is 1cm below the gluteal line

Mid-Thigh

  • Have client take a step forward on the leg you are measuring
  • Measure from the top of the trochanterion (top of the femur) to the tibiale laterale (top of the tibia) to find the mid-point
  • Place a small mark on the mid-point and measure the circumference around the thigh
