6. General Lab Notes
For labs which you will be saving files and analyzing them (perhaps out of the lab), it is recommended to do the following:
- Make a folder for saving files at the beginning of the lab, which you include your name and date/time of lab.
- Save files as .tiff
- Be wary of file names. Do not include dots in the filename (lab1.file1.tiff is NOT good practice). Use underscores to separate words or use nothing at all. Stay away from spaces in the filename as well.
Additionally,
- If your camera is updating slowly, lower the resolution!
- Recording details about your lab equipment (details about microscopes, sizes of beads, etc.) and taking good photos will tremendously aid your lab analysis later when you’ve forgotten things.
