Pipeline 1

The first pipeline is the most accessible development process. Here is a simple schematic of the pipeline:

  1. Following this pipeline will have you develop a set of learning objectives. Learning objectives are essential for Backwards Design, as they provide a clear roadmap for instructional design, ensuring that the desired outcomes and learner needs are identified and aligned with the overall learning experience.
  2. Based on the learning objectives, you now have two development options to choose from. The first option is to utilize the Lumi Desktop Editor, which leverages H5P technology. This editor provides a user-friendly interface for creating interactive and engaging learning modules. The second option is to use the Open eLearning Authoring tool, which offers a comprehensive set of features for developing e-learning content. Both options provide different approaches to content creation, and selecting the most suitable one will depend on your specific needs and preferences.
  3. After developing your content, it is advisable to organize your learning objects using a shared table, such as a Sharepoint List or Notion Database. In this table, include relevant metadata like creator information, date of creation, and any other details that are important for tracking and managing the content. It is also recommended to include a metadata field for scheduling content reviews and assign a team member responsible for reviewing the content at a designated future date. This approach ensures that your learning materials are regularly reviewed and updated to maintain their relevance and accuracy over time.
  4. Once you have organized your content, the next step is to import it into a Learning Management System (LMS). You have two options for importing the content: using an embeddable iFrame without assessment functionality, or importing it as SCORM, which allows for assessments. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. The choice between the two formats depends entirely on your learning objectives and the importance of evaluation in achieving those objectives. Consider the degree to which assessments are crucial for meeting your goals when making your decision.
  5. Finally, you will have to review and revise content as per your review schedule (step 3).
