Core Belief Statement

Prior to becoming a Registered Practical Nurse and even now, while in my first year of my BScN at Trent University, I have always appreciated that the profession of nursing exists as both a science and an art. As a future Registered Nurse, I believe that evidence-based practice and a holistic care approach are essential in managing the dynamic needs of the patients in my care. Evidence-based practice allows me to provide care grounded in recent research. At the same time, a holistic approach ensures that I consider both the physical health of my patients but also their emotional, psychological, and social well-being, recognizing the interconnectedness of these aspects in the healing process.
In addition to ensuring best practices in patient care, building therapeutic nurse-client relationships is crucial in influencing patient outcomes. These relationships, built on trust, respect, and empathy, create an environment where patients feel safe and valued. By fostering open communication and offering compassionate support, I can contribute to a more positive healthcare experience. As I continue my education and move forward in my career, I am committed to continue blending both the scientific and humanistic aspects of nursing to provide holistic care that promotes healing and well-being for all patients.
