Later that afternoon, Aria, a smart and curious little human who loves animals and nature was playing outside her house. Aria sees something strange at the bottom of the yard. It looks like a furry ball moving a little and she goes closer. To her surprise, she notices it’s a bear cub! Aria recognizes the bear cub is injured and needs help.
First, Aria instinctively gives the bear some water and berries from her trail mix to help it feel better. Then, she sees its arm is wounded. Aria removes her white scarf and in an act of bravery wraps it up into a sling. As she is tending to it the bear cub slowly begins to open its eyes.
“Hi, I am Aria, what is your name?” The wounded bear cub replies, “I am Rae Bear.” Aria asks, “What happened? How did you get here?” Rae Bear replies, “I was with my guardians in the forest when arrows began flying past us, and we realized that a Hunter was attacking us!” At this moment, Aria begins to think she might know the Hunter. Aria uses her sensemaking skills to connect the dots and make sense of the situation.
Aria recognizes the ethical decision would be to reunite Rae Bear with its family, so they bravely climb up the hill and head back into the forest together. It is a kind and fair choice to make.
