What is psychology?
Psychology is the overarching study of the mind, brain, and behaviour, encompassing a wide range of subdisciplines. Although all subdisciplines study psychology, they may do so with specialized methods, theoretical perspectives, and focus areas. Some subdisciplines of psychology include clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, community psychology, comparative cognition, forensic psychology, health psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, neuropsychology, and social psychology, and more (listed in alphabetical order). Psychology is grounded in science and can be applied in many settings including schools, hospitals, private practices, businesses, health clinics, and the legal system, just to name a few.
