An Analysis on Adults Suffering From Mental Health Issues as a Result of Child Maltreatment

Mental health is a very important aspect of medical research that is critical to continue studying to the best of our abilities. Many years have passed since we as a world began to advance in technology and the medical field, gaining knowledge and skills we have never had before. Nonetheless, despite such advances that have been and are constantly arising, we still know very little about our brains. In particular to psychological research, there is a lack of sufficient studies carried out to adequately understand how other’s actions and words during childhood can be detrimental to another’s mental health state as an adult.
This chapter dives into a particular study, which was published in 2020 and is based on a previous small study, that is one of the very few existing to utilize a 30-year study duration design, in order to comprehend the effects of childhood maltreatment on the mental health state during adulthood. By the end, you will understand the who, what, where, when, and why of this study.
