SMART goals provide an approach to establishing attainable, effective objectives for achieving desired outcomes by focusing attention and efforts clearly within defined parameters.
Short-term goal
By the end of February 2025, I aim to enhance safety and optimize drug management through an understanding of pharmacology concepts and skill refinement. My focus will be on mastering dosage calculations and safe administration practices while being vigilant about drug interactions. To achieve this goal, I will engage actively in classroom conversations, dedicate two hours weekly to exploring pharmacology references and seek guidance from instructors when facing challenging concepts. My success will be measured by how I can answer pharmacology questions in tests and apply that knowledge in life clinical situations or simulations.
By the end of my second semester in the RPN to RN program at Trent University, I aim to improve my critical thinking and leadership skills to prepare for the expanded responsibilities of an RN. This will include learning to prioritize patient care effectively, delegate tasks appropriately, and make informed clinical decisions under pressure. I will achieve this by engaging fully in group projects, taking on leadership roles in collaborative assignments, and reflecting on clinical experiences to identify areas for growth. Success will be determined by positive feedback from peers and instructors, as well as my ability to demonstrate these skills during final semester evaluations and clinical practice.
