Centennial Advising and Pathways Services

Your Success Advisor will provide you with important information and resources throughout your time at Centennial. Your Success Advisor will work with you to identify your goals, and help you create a plan for success. Available to help connect you with all the services and opportunities here at Centennial College, your Success Advisor will share tips and strategies that can help you develop leadership skills, gain experience for your career. Peer Tutoring

If you’re having trouble with any of your courses, you can take part in our peer tutoring program, which lets you get help from other Centennial College students who are in high academic standing and have been recommended by their respective departments. Peer tutoring programs are available on a one-on-one level or in small groups. For more information, please visit the Learning Centre at library.centennialcollege.ca/learning-centre.

 

Learning Strategists

Learning strategies can help you study more effectively. Learn the skills to manage your time, get organized and stay on top of your studies. Develop new active learning strategies for reading, note-taking, and test preparation. Meet with a Learning Strategist to create an individualized learning plan to help you be successful this semester. English Tutoring

The Centre for Academic English (CAE) provides you with free English tutoring and workshops at every campus. The tutors are professional teachers with certification from Teachers of English as a Second Language (TESL) Ontario or TESL Canada and have years of experience teaching students from around the world.

 

CAE’s services include tutoring, group conversation and pronunciation workshops, and small group academic workshops on writing, reading comprehension, grammar and more. For more information and to book a session go to centennialcollege.ca/studenthub/student-services/centre-for-academic-english

 

Q.      If I feel I am struggling in the program, where can I get help?

A.      Speak to your Success Advisor as soon as possible.

 

Dealing with Personal Matters

Q.      I am having a conflict with another student or my professor. Where can I go?

A.      The Student Experience Office (SEO) provides conflict and conduct management services rooted in deep transformative educational approaches that enhance student learning, student persistence, and student-community development. The SEO provides support (advice, consultations, case review, etc.) to College stakeholders. Contact the Student Experience Office at studentexperience@centennialcollege.ca or 416-289-5000, ext. 2499.

 

Q.      Who can I contact about a personal matter that is affecting my schoolwork?

A.      The Centre for Accessible Learning and Counselling Services offers free confidential counselling services, giving you a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings. It provides an opportunity for you to talk to someone who is supportive and objective about the concerns or issues that are getting in the way of your success. Issues cover a wide range of topics and can include gender issues, grief and loss, anxiety, adjustment to college, relationship issues, family issues, communication skills, and personal crisis.

Centennial College Student Association, Inc. (CCSAI)

The CCSAI is an official organization that promotes and represents the interests of Centennial students. The CCSAI offers a number of student-driven services to help students in their journey at Centennial College, including a health and dental plan, free legal advice, and student advocacy.
