Welcome to the AMHW Field Placement

Field Placement is a critical component of the Addictions and Mental Health Worker (AMHW) Program. It provides students with a hands-on opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes developed through coursework in real-world addiction and mental health settings. Through this experiential learning, students engage in meaningful practice, build professional competencies, and develop a deeper understanding of the field.

This Manual serves as a comprehensive guide for students, Agency Field Supervisors, and College Field Supervisors. It presents detailed information regarding:

• 📌 The goals, deadlines, course objectives, roles, structures, policies, practices, procedures, and evaluation processes specific to the Field Placement component.

The Centennial College Faculty of Integrated Health and Community Care and the AMHW Program recognize the invaluable contributions of College Field Supervisors, Agency Field Supervisors, the Field Placement Coordinator, and partner Agencies, Services, and Organizations across the Greater Toronto Area. Your expertise, time, and dedication enrich the placement experience and help students translate theory into effective practice.

This Manual reflects both Centennial College policies and the standards of the AMHW Program, providing a reliable reference for all participants. It also emphasizes the shared commitment and responsibilities of students, faculty, and agency partners, highlighting the importance of collaboration in fostering high-quality, meaningful placements.
