Trusting the Field Placement Process

The field placement process is like a well-oiled machine when all steps are followed and all deadlines are met. Your Field Placement Coordinator manages many students at once, balancing individual interests with the needs of existing community partners, while also actively cultivating new and exciting partnerships. This work takes time, so patience is essential.

While some students may be matched as early as May, it is completely normal if you do not receive your placement until August, and in some cases, the matching process may extend into the first week of September. This timing is part of the process and does not reflect any issue with your application or readiness.

If you have completed your Areas of Interest form and met all required deadlines, you are already on the Coordinator’s list. Frequently reaching out to ask about your placement can unintentionally slow down the process, as the Coordinator is actively working to secure placements for all students.

Trust the process and trust your Field Placement Coordinator. The system is designed to ensure that every student is matched with a placement that is meaningful, supportive, and aligned with the Field Placement learning goals. You can expect to receive your placement between April and September, depending on timing, availability, and the development of new partnerships.

Remember: this is a normal and expected part of the process. Your patience and understanding help the placement system run smoothly for everyone, ensuring that all students receive a valuable learning experience.
