Time Logs (On-Going)
Refer to: Appendix D
Time Logs are a critical component of your Field Placement. They serve as the official record of your hours, learning experiences, and professional growth, and are essential for both evaluation and accountability. Maintaining clear, accurate, and up-to-date time logs ensures you meet the required placement hours and can demonstrate your engagement in meaningful learning activities.
Why they matter:
-
Time Logs provide evidence of your commitment and progress throughout your placement.
-
They help your supervisors and program coordinators evaluate your learning and identify areas for growth.
-
Accurate records are necessary for eligibility to complete your Field Placement and for future references, certifications, or employment.
Tips for success:
-
Don’t leave it until the last minute. When you’re busy balancing placement duties, coursework, and personal life, it’s easy to forget details that are important and valuable to note.
-
Carve out time at the end of each shift to complete your Time Logs. Doing this consistently ensures your records are accurate, detailed, and ready for submission—so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.
-
Plan for signatures proactively. Don’t wait to get your logs signed. Ask your Agency Field Supervisor (AFS) if you can schedule a brief time each week to review your logs and obtain signatures. While AFS schedules may change due to meetings or agency needs, having a regular check-in keeps them aware of your requirements and prevents last-minute panics.
Remember: Time Logs are more than just paperwork—they are a reflection of your professionalism, attention to detail, and accountability. Maintaining them consistently will make the Field Placement experience smoother, more organized, and ultimately more rewarding.
Student Responsibilities
-
Students must consistently track all Field Placement hours and complete their Time Logs in a detailed and accurate manner.
-
All hours, including sick or missed hours, must be approved and signed off by your Agency Field Supervisor (AFS).
-
Holidays must be included in your Time Log, even if no hours are completed. Example:

-
Each student is permitted one (1) sick/personal day in AMHW-310 and AMHW-410.

-
Length Expectation: Each day should show detailed activities (5–10 sentences).
-
Direct vs. Indirect Work: Clearly distinguish client-facing vs. administrative/reflective tasks.
-
Holidays & Sick Days: Log as “0 hours” with a clear label.
Note: Time Logs are ongoing documentation reviewed by your AFS and College Field Supervisor throughout the semester. Accurate Time Logs are required to pass the course and progress to the next placement.
