Prerequisites

A prerequisite is a course you must complete before taking another course. All prerequisites are listed on your Program Model Route and course outlines.

💡 Tip: Check your prerequisites early—missing one can delay your progress and your Field Placement.

• AMHW-310 and AMHW-302 are prerequisites for AMHW-410 and AMHW-406. Ensure you have successfully completed them before advancing.

Co-requisites

A co-requisite is a course you must take in the same semester as another course. If you fail one, you may need to repeat both courses. Co-requisites are listed on your Program Model Route and course outlines.

• AMHW-310 and AMHW-302 are co-requisites; failing one means you must repeat both.

• AMHW-410 and AMHW-406 are co-requisites; failing one means you must repeat both.

Academic Standing

Students must be in Good Academic Standing or Conditional Academic Standing to participate in Field Placement.

Field Placement is a key part of your program, giving you the opportunity to apply classroom learning in real-world settings. To ensure you are prepared, students must meet specific academic prerequisites and co-requisites.

Prerequisites:

• All Semester 1 and 2 AMHW courses: Minimum grade C
• COMM160/161: Minimum grade D
• COMM170/171: Minimum grade D

Co-requisite:

• AMHW-302 Reflective Practice 1

Prerequisites:

• All Semester 1 and 2 AMHW courses – Minimum grade: C

Understanding  your Field Placement Co-requisites

• As mentioned above, co-requisites are courses that must be taken concurrently with your Field Placement.

• For AMHW-310, this means enrollment in AMHW-302 concurrently. Reflective Practice 1 complements your placement by helping you:

  • Process and reflect on field placement experiences

  • Apply classroom knowledge

  • Develop professional skills and professional growth

• For AMHW-410, this means enrollment in AMHW-406 concurrently. Reflective Practice 3 supports your second placement by:

  • Encouraging reflection on growth

  • Strengthening skills

  • Building on knowledge from your first placement
