Meeting Preparation, Professionalism, and Participation Evaluation
This evaluation is a key component of your overall Field Placement assessment, complementing other evaluations such as the Learning Contract, Time Logs, Midterm and Final Evaluations, and Professional-in-Training Portfolio. While those evaluations focus on your achievement of placement objectives, skills development, and competency demonstration, this rubric specifically assesses your professional engagement and conduct throughout the placement experience.
Purpose of this Evaluation
The Meeting Preparation, Professionalism, and Participation Evaluation measures your accountability, communication, initiative, and professional growth as a future Addiction and Mental Health Worker or Social Service Worker. It highlights your ability to:
-
Prepare thoroughly for meetings, discussions, and field visits
-
Adhere to agreed-upon learning goals and responsibilities
-
Demonstrate professionalism in behavior, communication, and work quality
-
Engage with feedback, reflect on your practice, and demonstrate leadership
This evaluation is not only a reflection of your current performance but also a developmental tool that guides your professional growth and readiness for practice in real-world settings. It emphasizes the soft skills—organization, time management, initiative, and professional conduct—that are crucial for success in any human services role.

Importance
This evaluation is essential because it highlights professional behaviours that are not always captured through technical skill assessments alone. Success in field placements depends not only on what you know, but also on how you conduct yourself, communicate, manage responsibilities, and respond to challenges. Excelling in these areas signals readiness for professional practice and strengthens your ability to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
