When you have a deadline—whether it is to submit a form, complete an evaluation, or obtain signatures for time logs—do not wait until the last minute. Effective time management is key to alleviating stress, avoiding panic, and ensuring that all requirements are completed accurately and professionally.
We strongly encourage you to:
-
Plan ahead: Review deadlines early and map out what needs to be done.
-
Prepare in advance: Gather documents, fill out forms, and review evaluations before the deadline approaches.
-
Obtain signatures early: Schedule time with your agency supervisor to get required approvals well ahead of time.
Submitting well before the deadline also protects you against potential internet or technical issues, and ensures that agency supervisors are available to review and sign documents. Please note that last-minute issues with supervisors or technology will not be accepted as an excuse for missing or late submissions.
Late Assignment Policy
Late assignments submitted without acceptable documentation or negotiated extensions are calculated at a 5% grade deduction per day late (including weekends). This does not apply to mandatory field placement forms and evaluations, which must be submitted on time.
Meeting deadlines is not just about compliance—it is an opportunity to practice professionalism, time management, and organizational skills, which are essential in the field of addiction and mental health work. By planning ahead and submitting requirements early, you set yourself up for success and demonstrate reliability to your agency and Field Placement Coordinator.
Do yourself a favour: treat deadlines as a guide to prepare thoroughly, reduce stress, and build professional habits that will serve you well throughout your career.
