AMHW Program Roles and Contact Information

Understanding the roles and responsibilities of key individuals involved in your Field Placement is essential for a successful and supported learning experience. Below is a detailed overview of each role and how they support you throughout your placement:


Associate Dean – Dr. Delon Omrow (he/him)

The Associate Dean oversees all programs within the Faculty of Integrated Health and Community Care and provides leadership to our faculty team. They ensure that the department operates smoothly, overseeing staff and collaborating to support effective program management, curriculum development, and student success. In addition, they supervise faculty and serve as a point of contact for faculty or students who need support with issues that cannot be resolved at the faculty or Student Success Advisor level.

Field Placement Coordinator – Odessa Austin BA, SSW (she/her)

The Field Placement Coordinator is your primary support for all aspects of your Field Placement experience. They assist you throughout the placement preparation, application, and interview process, ensuring you are matched with meaningful partner agencies serving community members across the city. Odessa is your main point of contact for guidance, questions, and resources to help you navigate placement requirements, expectations, and challenges. You will have the opportunity to meet and connect with her before your placement begins, allowing her to understand your interests and learning goals to ensure a placement aligned with your passions.

College Field Supervisors (CFS)

College Field Supervisors are faculty members who bridge classroom learning with real-world field experience. They provide guidance, mentorship, and academic support during your placement, ensuring your learning objectives are met. CFSs also serve as your liaison between the College and your placement site and act as your faculty for your personal and professional Reflective Practice course, helping you integrate field experiences with self-reflection, professional growth, and critical learning.

Assignment of CFS: College Field Supervisors are assigned based on the section you choose for your Reflective Practice course. Your faculty in the Reflective Practice course will serve as your CFS throughout your Field Placement.

Agency Field Supervisors (AFS)

Agency Field Supervisors are your on-site mentors and primary points of contact at your placement agency. They provide direct supervision, mentorship, and feedback, guiding you as you apply your knowledge and skills with community members. AFSs actively support your professional growth, ethical practice, and reflective learning while participating in your formal evaluation.

Program Coordinator – Michelle Galeotalanza, MSW, RSW (she/her)

The Program Coordinator is a professor who, in addition to teaching responsibilities, provides academic leadership in the coordination and development of courses and programs. They ensure curriculum quality, relevance, and currency, guide and support students’ learning journeys, and foster positive, inclusive environments where students can grow academically, professionally, and personally. The Program Coordinator is also a resource for students, College Field Supervisors, and the Field Placement Coordinator.

Program Faculty

You’ll be learning from a team of dedicated full-time and part-time instructors with years of real-world experience in addiction, substance use, and mental health work. Your instructors provide guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback, encouraging critical thinking, self-reflection, and professional growth throughout your learning journey. They aim to inspire you to become a competent, compassionate, and confident AMHW, ready to make a meaningful impact in the communities you serve.

Student Success Advisor – Mede Ovbiagele (he/him)

Your Student Success Advisor is your personal guide for navigating college life and planning your future. They support you in setting academic and professional goals, connecting with resources, and addressing challenges related to your Field Placement or program. They can also assist with registration, course planning, and program pathways, including flexible or revised models. Whether you need advice, encouragement, or guidance, your Success Advisor is here to help you thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
