Section 5: Evaluation, Grading, and Promotion

Publication of Grades / Final Grades

Mohawk College employs a numerical grade system for the assessment of the student’s academic achievement in each course in which they participate. For a more detailed description, see the Mohawk College policies on “Grading and Transcripts” and “Program Promotion and Graduation Requirements”, Policies #AC700 and AC702.

Final grades or designations will not be communicated to a student prior to the departmental promotion meeting. Students will receive an automated email message explaining their promotion status and instructing on next steps. It is the student’s responsibility to access their official final grades via MyMohawk. The grade book on MyCanvas is a feedback tool only.

The Square (Registrar’s Office) will provide official and unofficial transcripts of a student’s grades at the student’s request. Only the grades and/or transcript designations will be reflected on the official student record (transcript).

For the breakdown of final grades for each course, refer to the individual course outlines.
