Section 5: Evaluation, Grading, and Promotion
Incompletes
An incomplete profile may be assigned when the student has not completed the requirements defined by the course outline and the student can be expected to clear the deficiency within a six-week period or less, as determined by the course instructor.
When an Incomplete designation is assigned, the student must be issued an Incomplete Profile form indicating:
- what specifically must be done to complete the course. This assignment/test will reflect the content or evaluation that was deficient in determining the final grade. Completion of the assignment/test will result in the “I – Incomplete” designation being changed to the appropriate grade.
- what period of time or date the assignment/test is to be completed. This should not exceed six weeks from the last day of classes.
A copy of the Incomplete Profile, which is completed by the instructor, will remain on file for the duration of the time specified.
If the Incomplete is not cleared within that time frame, the “I – Incomplete” designation will be altered by the faculty member to the appropriate final grade and forwarded to the registrar’s office. This deadline on the Incomplete Profile may be extended by the Associate Dean for compassionate or other valid reasons.
If the registrar’s office has not received notification of a change from the “I – Incomplete” designation within two weeks after the deadline date specified on the Incomplete Profile, the “I” will be converted by the registrar’s office to a failure, “FL” or 0%, as appropriate to the course’s grading scheme.
